Rain beforehand had already reduced the match to 41 overs per side and more precipitation meant that 31 further overs were scrubbed off the match total.

Andrew Foulds made 65 not out off 67 balls (one six, 13 fours) as Steeton reached their pre-arranged declaration target of 150-6 as agreed between the captains, 73 runs having come in 4.5 overs.

Collingham now had 26 overs to pass Steeton’s total and they were 46-2 after seven overs, which included a farcical run-out.

Things looked even more promising when Collingham were reduced to 96-7 after 15 overs. But the hosts won by three wickets after 23.1 overs thanks to an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 58.

James Emmott (3-32 off six overs) was the pick of the Steeton bowlers but their fielding and catching was not up to the required quality.

Rain reduced Steeton’s allowance to 39 overs and Wilson and Hayden Tennant (49) put on 116 for the third wicket, while Adam Hardwick (23no) and Gary Boulton (41no) added 64 unbroken for the sixth wicket in their 206-5.
