PROMOTED Sutton, who were chasing the Division Two championship with Chatburn, must have been fearing the worst when their match at Wilsden was halted by bad light.

It was the only game in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League that wasn't completed, but the point they secured was enough for them to be champions as Chatburn, who were level on points with them and also promoted, probably turned in their worst performance of the season against Oakworth II at Clitheroe, losing by 48 runs.

Richard Walker took 5-59 for Sutton as Wilsden made 200, and the Royd Hill side were 115-4 when the weather closed in.

There was no title for Gargrave II in Division Five, but they had the consolation of being promoted with visitors Chatburn II, who they beat, as Sutton II missed out by a point in third.

The Royd Hill side won by 16 runs. Stuart Tillotson scored 80 as the hosts posted 165, and Glynn Thornton claimed 6-41 as the Ribble Valley men replied with 149-9.

Gargrave II spoilt Sutton II's party by beating Bradley II by seven wickets at Skipton Road.

Freddie Maddocks (89) and Antony Radley (73) put on 179 for the second wicket as Cononley II blasted 204-3 at Sandylands.

In reply, Skipton CI II made 143 with Rob Suter hitting 47 as Lewie Fitton took 3-5 and Jonathan Crossley 3-29.

Ingrow St John’s have claimed their first Division One title after beating Cowling by 36 runs at the Coliseum in a high-scoring game.

The Saints rattled up 231-9 as Shahid Hassan claimed 6-38 from seven overs.

The reply closed on a very creditable 195-9, with Mark Adams top-scoring with 42 as John Cleaver rolled back the years to finish with 40 and Mike Dudley made 33.
