Greetland All Rounders A 20 Cowling Harlequins ARLFC 22

DANNY Whitaker’s early try sent Harlequins on their way to a hard-fought victory at their rivals from Halifax.

The prop collected Daz Greenwood’s flat pass to power past three Greetland defenders and Scott Cunningham kicked the conversion.

Greetland eventually broke away to score and then went in again at the corner before Harlequins had two tries disallowed in quick succession.

The visitors therefore trailed 12-6 at the break and they found themselves playing uphill in the second half.

Nevertheless, hooker Anthony Packer found full-back Ashley Wood 10 metres out to score a try which Cunningham converted.

Cowling then scored again when Karl Hanicouk grabbed his first try for the club and Cunningham landed a difficult conversion.

Greetland hit back but Wood sprinted to the line for his second to give Harlequins a six-point advantage.

The All Rounders scored again in the corner but the try went unconverted – giving the Cowling side a well-deserved win.
