CONONLEY Sports' fine 6-3 home victory over the Harrogate League's Pannal Sports has earned them a tasty tie in the second round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

Craig Gregory's four goals, plus efforts from Craig Ebbrell and Rob Slater, gave Sports a home match against West Yorkshire League rivals Oxenhope Recreation on Saturday, November 1.

Michael Garnett also bagged four goals as Oxenhope won 9-3 at Cowling.

If Cononley Sports' win caused minor shockwaves, Sutton's 2-0 triumph at Bradley resulted in seismic tremors.

Sutton had lost all five of their Mastab's Craven League Division Two fixtures, while Bradley had only lost once in five matches in Division One.

But home manager Tony Piotrowicz said: “Sutton deserved it for holding out but we never turned up and got what we deserved. Hopefully it was just a blip.”

Sutton will now host Farsley Celtic Juniors, from the Yorkshire Amateur League.

It was bad news across the board for the other Keighley area teams in the West Riding County FA cups.

Silsden’s Development XI went down 4-1 at West Yorkshire League side Aberford Albion, with only an own goal to show for their efforts.

Ben O'Melia was the star man for Silsden Whitestar as they triumphed 7-2 at Huddersfield League outfit KKS Spartans in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy.

He bagged four goals, others coming from Sam Stansfield (2) and Mark Bradley as the Cobbydale team booked a trip to Yorkshire Amateur League side Old Centralians Reserves.

Skipton Town have lost their unbeaten record in Division One in no uncertain terms.

They fell 9-1 at home to Gargrave, who climb to second, swapping places with Town.

Man of the match Matthew Simpson scored six for the visitors, Cameron Hodge, Christian Moon and Jamie Poulter also netting, Sam Kimberley getting the sole reply.

Meanwhile, Justin Wilson got Rolls Reserves' only strike as they went down 3-1 at home to Bingley Town

With many clubs in cup action, Cross Hills took advantage to climb to the top of the Premier Division with a 6-4 victory at Grindleton.

Rob Matthews (2), Will Storrie, Ben Dewhirst, Jamie Page and Sam Wedgewood all hit the net for the visitors, who went from fifth to the summit.

Rolls are now second after Sam Harrison (2), substitute Matthew Blackwell (2) and Morgan Brown were their marksmen at basement boys Embsay, who have now lost six out of six.

Kyle Telford's hat-trick was instrumental in giving Grassington United Reserves a 6-0 triumph at struggling Earby Town Reserves in Division Two, man of the match Adam Steventon (2) and Ben Gannon completing the tally, while late goals helped Polonia go second after a 4-1 home win over Skipton LMS Reserves.

It was 1-1 until the 78th minute when Pizemyslaw Witch scored, and substitute Maciek Zotek netted in the 84th and 87th minutes, Thomas Hunter replying, while Nathan Bissett's goal was all that Settle United Reserves could muster in a 6-1 defeat at Sporting Keighley.

Carleton stayed second in Division Three and Pendle Renegades Reserves remained third after their 2-2 draw at Ramper Park, Joshua Banks and Stuart Gee netting for the hosts and Carl Ashton and man of the match Chris Batley replying.

Cross Hills Reserves climbed from tenth to sixth on the back of a 5-2 home victory over Horton, while Skipton Town Reserves are fourth, despite a 5-1 defeat at leaders Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves.

Barlick Wanderers remain tenth after a 2-1 home victory over Bradley Reserves, with goals from Lewis Bradley Bannister and Jordan Driver, while Barnoldswick Barons lost 2-0 at Ilkley, who have risen from 11th to fourth.
