Silsden 0 Nelson 4

A PHYSICAL Nelson side gained revenge on Silsden for defeart earlier in the season as Peter Wright claimed all four goals.

Although the visitors dominated the first half, the goals only came as half-time approached after mistakes by Phil Rishton and Joe Jalil before two second-half penalties produced a scoreline which flattered the Lancashire side.

Zack Dale was injured early on and, with several more heavy challenges on him, it was soon clear that the player who had tormented the Nelson defence in the previous encounter was being targeted. Eventually, Gareth Peet was booked in the 37th minute but the Silsden striker, who by then had been fouled eight times, was already carrying a knock.

An error by Ben Crabtree allowed Wright to bear down on Rishton's goal but the Silsden keeper spread himself well and Wright's shot hit the side-netting.

Jalil denied Wright with a well-timed tackle before the visitors took the lead with five minutes of the half remaining. A near-post corner was curled in and, as Rishton rose to punch clear, his hand struck the bar and Wright was on hand to flick the loose ball into the net.

Silsden needed to hold out until the break and regroup but Jalil under-hit his back pass and Wright sliced the ball beyond Rishton and in at the far post.

Without a recognised keeper on the bench, Owen Deakin-Pickard replaced Rishton after the break.

Silsden almost pulled one back when Crabtree's free-kick was headed goalwards by Andy Hill from close range but the Nelson keeper produced a great save.

Six minutes later the game was over after a rash challenge by Craig Mitchell led to a penalty converted by Wright.

Two minutes later Wright scored his fourth, again from the spot, after Ryan had tripped the Nelson marksman.
