Silsden 6, Brighouse Town 2

SILSDEN came from behind to end comfortable winners in the West Riding County Cup on Tuesday night.

They punished Evo-Stik League outfit Brighouse Town, who were in complete control before Shaquille Clarke-Adams saw red on the stroke of half-time.

Cobbydalers striker Zack Dale was rested with one eye on Saturday's FA Vase game at Consett and Tom Henderson replaced Chris Wademan.

Town took the lead after only five minutes. James Nettleton blocked ex-Leeds United trainee Elliot Kebe's close-range effort but failed to clear and the impressive Bill Law blasted home.

Silsden had hardly had any possession but then Danny Fagan found Craig Nicholls with a defence-splitting pass before Henderson coolly side-footed home after 15 minutes.

Kebe missed several chances but Brighouse restored their lead just before the break. Law timed his run perfectly to latch on to a through ball and round keeper Danny Thorpe before sliding home.

The visitors were in command but an altercation between Joe Mitchell and Clarke-Adams ended with the latter player pushing the Silsden man and receiving a red card.

The opening ten minutes of the second half were dominated by Town, despite being a man down, before Fagan headed in the equaliser from a corner on 62 minutes.

Silsden were now in the ascendancy as substitute Dale converted a cross from Joe Jalil. Soon afterwards Nicholls set up Dale, who made it 4-2 at the second attempt.

Victory was sealed on 85 minutes when Henderson volleyed home a cross from Owen Deakin-Pickard, before Wademan netted a sixth goal as Silsden cruised into the last eight.

The Cobbydalers complete their trio of cup games with a trip to Northern League side Consett in the FA Vase this weekend.
