FIRST-TEAM assistant manager Ryan Haigh has expressed his delight after Silsden added four new signings to their ranks.

The Cobbydalers have snapped up Robert Grimes and Michael Morrison from North West Counties League Premier Division rivals Nelson, while local players Danny Riley and Matty Moore have also joined.

Riley played for Silsden in 2009-10 before going to university in Texas and Moore is a former captain at Eccleshill United, having previously enjoyed success with Steeton.

All four featured in the Cobbydalers' 2-1 win at Abbey Hey last Saturday and Haigh believes they can all play key roles as the club looks to progress.

He said: "Signing the two from Nelson is a massive boost for us and they will provide the physical strength that we've been missing for the last 18 months.

"We have a very young side and these two, both aged 28, provide us with more experience at this level and give us something we don't have."

Both have won the NWCL Premier crown with Ramsbottom and have also featured for

Barnoldswick, Clitheroe, Colne and Padiham among other clubs.

Midfielder Morrison has scored 56 goals at this level, while striker Grimes notched 21 times as captain for Nelson in their Division One title triumph last season.

Haigh is equally pleased to secure the services of Riley and Moore. He said: "The two from Keighley have been there and done it a bit.

"We've signed players from lower league and reserve-team football but these lads have a bit of pedigree."

Forward Riley, who was on Bradford City's books as a youngster, has enjoyed success playing for St Edwards University in Austin, Texas, while midfielder Moore was captain for Sheffield Hallam University last season, having also played for Northern Counties East League side Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

With a much bigger first-team squad now available, Haigh is confident Silsden can finish the season strongly.

He said: "We are tenth at the moment and have a couple of games in hand. We're looking good for a top-seven finish, building up for next season."
