SKIPTON Swimming Club took 36 of their swimmers to Leeds Aquatics pool to compete in the Yorkshire Team Championships on Sunday.

They had 18 teams competing over the different age groups.

The girls 15/16 years 200m medley team were the club’s stars of the night.

After qualifying fourth-fastest in 2min.15.00sec, they lowered it to 2.14.43 to secure a bronze medal.

The boys 13-14 years 200m medley saw Michael Bowers lead off in the backstroke with a time of 35.37.

Tom Barrett took over and returned 38.01 for the breaststroke. The good work was continued on the butterfly leg as James Field clocked 30.36.

Ethan Camsey brought the team home with a freestyle leg of 29.84 as Skipton came ninth in 2.13.78.

They were also ninth in the girls 15-16 years 200m freestyle where Lucy Ward (30.83), Ellie Phillip (30.97), Millie Sharp (30.40) and Lauren Hanson (29.42) finished in 2.03.21.

The quartet of Fenn Curran (34.66), Rohan Smith (40.61), Bradley Brennand (42.50) and Harvey Day (40.70) clocked 2.38.27 in the boys nine-ten years 200m freestyle, but didn’t qualify.

There were two Skipton teams in the girls 11-12 years 200m medley. The B team of Molly Middleton (backstroke 41.77), Ellen Wright (breaststroke 46.55), Mia Douglas (butterfly 41.46) and Rosie Guest (freestyle 35.30) didn’t make the final.

The A team of Megan Baines (backstroke 40.22), Niamh Mirfield (breaststroke 43.09), Hannah Raistrick (butterfly 31.76) and Abi Field (freestyle 31.90) came ninth in 2.26.97.

The boys 13-14 years 200m freestyle team of Tom Barrett (29.89), Luke Midgley (30.39), Ethan Camsey (29.65) and James Field (27.91) were eighth in the final with a time of 1.57.37.

Skipton’s nine to ten years 200m girls medley quartet, just missed out on the final after clocking 2.54.14. Madison Turner (backstroke 41.94), Hermoine Roe (breaststroke 47.33), Hannah Jackson (butterfly 44.66) and Molly Jenkinson (40.11) all swam bravely.

The boys 9-10 years 200m medley relay saw the quartet of Harvey Pennington, Rohan Smith, Bradley Brennand and Fenn Curran record a time of 3.04.88, but were disqualified.

The Skipton A team of Abi Field (32.93), Niamh Mirfield (32.35), Megan Baines (33.36) and Hannah Raistrick (29.60) made it to the final of the girls 11-12 years 200m freestyle with a time of 2.08.24. They improved this to 2.07.89 for eighth place.

The B team of Mia Douglas (36.42), Ellen Wright (38.55), Molly Middleton (36.38) and Rosie Guest (34.42) clocked 2.25.77 but didn’t make the final.

Skipton’s B team just missed out on a final slot in the boys 11-12 years 200m freestyle.

Dec Sequeira (33.21), Harry Rowe (35.84), Matthew Housely (32.51) and Sam King (32.25) had a combined time of 2.13.81.

The A team of Ned Sharpe, Alfie Weston, Daniel Burrows and Joel Phillips were disqualified at the start.

Abbie Hampshire (backstroke 36.52), Bea Waller (breaststroke 41.77), Abi Newton (butterfly 34.31) and Izzy Ward (freestyle 33.90) returned a time of 2.26.50 but missed out in the girls 13-14 years 200m medley.

The girls nine-ten years 200m freestyle team of Madison Turner (36.80), Hannah Jackson (40.10), Molly Jenkinson (40.78) and finally Hermoine Roe (35.75) clocked 2.33.33 but didn’t qualify.

The Skipton A team of Daniel Burrows (backstroke), Joel Phillips (breaststroke), Ned Sharp (butterfly) and Alfie Weston (freestyle) came sixth in the final of the boys 11-12 years 200m medley in 2.26.02.

The B team ofDec Sequeira (backstroke), Sam King (breaststroke), Matthew Housely (butterfly) and Harry Rowe (freestyle) just missed the final with 2.38.41.

In the girls 13-14 years 200m freestyle, Bea Waller (31.78), Abbie Hampshire (31.49), Izzy Ward (32.91) and Abi Newton (30.75) had a time of 2.06.93 which wasn’t enough to make the final.
