Silsden Ladies 0 Leeds Medics and Dentists 3

A DEPLETED Silsden side came down to earth with a bump after the previous week’s cup heroics, losing out to a well drilled Medics and Dentists side. Due to injuries, illness and unavailability, the Cobbydalers could only field ten players.

On a pitch made heavy by overnight rain, Silsden started slowly, and soon found themselves one down. This sparked them into life as they went close through Harriet Brewer and captain Victoria Ellis, who was inches away with a diving header from a Brewer corner.

Leeds then went straight back down the other end and doubled their lead and could have been three up at the break but keeper Kate Perfect saved a penalty after a handball.

Silsden started the second half brightly, Vicky Williamson, Ellis, Sarah Betterton and Laura Ackroyd working hard to create chances, but with no reward. The central defensive partnership of Rebecca Brown and Dee Rutherford were working hard to keep the Leeds forwards quiet, but couldn’t prevent a third goal, which effectively sealed the points.

Combative performances from full backs Charlotte Hutchinson and Christina Aston were a plus point for Silsden, who, despite the result, can be proud of their effort. Captain Ellis was awarded the player of the match.
