SETTLE United have pocketed what could be the first leg of a treble.

They defeated Trawden Celtic 3-0 in the Craven League's Premier Division Cup final at Skipton LMS.

Goals came from man of the match Shaun Airey, Elliot Firth and Matt Simpson, and last night (Wednesday) they were facing LMS in the final of the Northern Plant Hire Trophy at Gargrave.

LMS defeated First Division Ingrow & Worth Valley 2-1 in their semi-final with goals from Robert Bingham and Paul Wilkin.

Meanwhile, Carleton have added the Division Three Cup to their league title.

They beat Trawden Celtic Reserves 6-3 in the final at Sandylands, with efforts from substitute Ashley Purnell (2), Robert Bradley, Stuart Gee, Stuart Hunn and Ben Teal.

Still to come for United is the run-in for the Premier Division.

They are currently third behind Cross Hills, who have finished their matches on 53 points, and Rolls, who have two games left and could finish level with the south Craven club but would overtake them on goal difference as they are already ten goals better off.

Settle are 15 points behind Cross Hills but have six matches remaining and have a goal difference that is 11 better than Rolls.

The leaders are doing all that they can to make it as hard as possible for their rivals to overtake them.

They completed their programme with a 2-0 home victory over Grassington United.

Settle United maintained the pressure with a 4-2 home defeat of Cononley Sports and a 6-0 victory at Trawden Celtic, three days after they met in the cup final.

Man of the match Simpson (3) and substitute William Beckwith were on target against Sports, for whom Laurence Dunne and man of the match Craig Gregory netted, while John Beckwith (2), man of the match Matthew Cardus (2) and Dale Denham were Settle's marksmen against Celtic.

Rolls' championship bid was severely hit by a 4-2 loss at Grindleton, with Morgan Brown bagging a brace and Jonathan McGeachie picking up both man-of-the-match awards for the losers, while another went his way in the 3-1 home defeat of Cononley Sports, Craig Gregory replying.

Two LMS players bagged hat-tricks in their 8-3 victory at Embsay, Luke Howsen and Fred Midgley fighting over the match ball as Wilkin and substitute Daniel Hunt also netted, with Bingham their man of the match as fellow gong winner David Greenwood (2) and Paul Robinson replied.

Thabani Songo was again bottom club Cowling's best player in a 2-0 defeat at LMS, Midgley netting as Oliver Hurst was man of the match.

Cameron Hodge's goal was not enough for Gargrave, who went down 4-1 at home to AFC Colne in the First Division, while Andrew Nicholson and man of the match Jake Thompson were on target for fourth-placed Skipton Town in a 2-0 triumph at Rolls Reserves.

Grassington United Reserves, who are in a four-way fight for the two promotion places in the Second Division, won 5-1 at home to Manningham All Stars, Graham Hunn (2), Jan Ozdoba and Adam Steventon being among United's scorers, while there was no mercy shown to Sutton, who are propping up the table.

They went down 14-1 at home to Salts, taking the goals conceded column to 89 in 17 matches.

Substitute Scott Russell got the only effort for Sutton, whose man of the match was Jack Shaw.

In the Third Division, Luke Newton (2), Jimmy Anson and Luke Daniel were on target for Cross Hills Reserves in their 4-1 home victory against Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves, but the latter bounced back with a 3-0 home win over Barlick Wanderers.

Joe Crummack won both man-of-the-match awards for Sutton, for whom Michael Ruddock and substitute Aiden Robertson were on target in a 4-2 home defeat against Cowling Reserves.

Meanwhile, Bradley Reserves went down 2-1 at home to Ilkley, with Chris Hogg netting for the hosts.
