LOCAL athletes helped Yorkshire to pick up four team gold medals at the UK Counties Athletic Union's Inter-County Fell Running Championships in North Wales last Saturday.

The white rose won the under-16 girls, under-16 boys, under-18s and senior men's team races at Betwys-y-Coed, and also picked up team silvers in the senior women's and under-18 girls.

Individually, Ilkley Harrier Jemima Elwood took silver in the girls' under-16s, while Chris Law (Penistone & Holmfirth) was a bronze medallist in the boys' under-18s.

Former Bingley Harrier Emma Clayton (Leeds City) won the senior women's race, where Keighley & Craven's Helen Glover was eighth, while Ilkley Harrier Tom Adams picked up a senior men's bronze.

Oxenhope's Victoria Merrick was sixth in the under-16 girls, who took team gold, while her twin Matthew, also of Bingley Harriers, was fifth in the under-16 boys, who also triumphed in the team event.

Hannah Thom (Keighley & Craven) was ninth among the under-18 girls, who won team silver.

Keighley & Craven's Jimmy Lund was part of the under-16 boys' gold-medal winning team.
