SILSDEN must be wondering what they have to do to win matches, having scored 468 runs at the weekend and lost both matches.

Sadir Khan (55) was top-scorer in Silsden's 228-8 in the Waddilove Cup but Jatinder Singh (64) and Ben Waller (76) made sure Calverley got home by one wicket.

Tom Stead (74) top-scored in Steeton’s 214-6 but a half-century from Ian Chaplin and an unbeaten stand from Alex Bailey (67no) and Nick Cockcroft (49no) clinched a seven-wicket win for Ilkley.

They face a tricky trip to league new boys Old Modernians, who comfortably beat Skipton despite Kevin Owens’ half-century.

In the league on Saturday, there was another tight finish at Steeton, where Guiseley appeared about to register their first Division One win of the campaign after Peter Towner (78) put them within touching distance of the home side’s 172 total.

But James Freebury was called into the attack and in 1.4 overs he took three wickets without conceding a run to dismiss Guiseley ten runs short of victory.

In Division Two, Richard Nichols hit 66 and shared a 117-run opening stand with Kevin Owens (54) as Skipton set early pacesetters Colton a 203-9 target.

Nichols then took 4-47 and, with Iqbal Khan (3-46) and Andrew Fergie (3-60), dismissed the home side for 157.

A sixth-wicket stand of 89 between Majid Inayat (93no) and Sadir Khan (56) helped Division Three bottom club Silsden to 240-9 but it still wasn’t enough for a first win.

Will Atkins (43) laid the foundation of Addingham’s reply, and Ricky Palacio (98no) and Laurie O’Connor (68no) clinched the win with seven wickets in hand.

Upper Wharfedale could only manage 120 at New Rover, and lost by six wickets.
