STEETON are the early pacesetters in Under-15 Division One of the Upper Airedale Junior Association, having already won three matches.

In their opener, Steeton overcame neighbours Silsden, who are now pursuing the leaders three points adrift, while Wilsden and Cullingworth are among three clubs who have yet to register a point.

In Division Two, Crossflatts, Bradford & Bingley and Oakworth all remain unbeaten, with the Ryshworth Park side a point ahead. Denholme and Bingley Congs are so far without a point.

In the Brook Taverner under-13 League, Skipton Scorpions are three points behind leaders Oakworth, last year's runners-up, but have a game in hand. Relegated Bradley are seeking a swift return in Division Two and head the table with Oxenhope.

In pairs cricket, fewer under-11 matches have been completed in the West Yorkshre Conference, with Cullingworth Cobras leading the pack.

Oakworth, cup and Conference winners in 2014, have lost their first two matches.

The under-nines tournament has been extended to 12 teams over a longer season.

Early knockout rounds are well under-way and, at under-13s, the John Hindle Memorial Cup quarter-final line-up is almost complete, with Embsay to host Cullingworth, Wharfedale Stags entertaining Skipton Scorpions and Oxenhope facing Steeton. Oakworth will visit winners of Settle v Bradley.

Similarly the under-11 Barritt-Stephenson Cup also has three known quarter-final ties: Wharfedale Stags v Oxenhope, Steeton v Great Horton Church and holders Oakworth Sharks v Embsay.

The fourth quarter-final depends on the outcomes from Sutton v Settle and Bradley v Earby.

Representative cricket has also been on the agenda.

Upper Airedale under-tens kicked off with a seven-wicket win against Halifax at Haworth.

Luke Spragg (Steeton), with 15, supported Tom Slater (Upper Wharfedale), who notched a match-winning 34.

Sadly they were unable to maintain that start with defeats to Nidderdale at Pateley Bridge and at Glusburn CC against Bradford in the K3 Dental Cup.

The under-11s began their campaign with a defeat at Cononley against Huddersfield, while the under-12s managed an excellent 149 against Halifax but finished 38 runs adrift.

Bradley Powell [Oakworth] stroked a magnificent 53, with clubmate Owen West chipping in 38. They were outshone by Halifax opener R Newman with a solid 67.
