ANYONE of a nervous disposition should stay clear whenever Steeton and Rawdon meet in the Aire Wharfe League.

The pair played out a tense tie on the opening day of the Division One season and came to close doing it again before Steeton scrambled over the line by a single wicket.

Stephen Pearson’s 4-38 spell saw Rawdon go from 81-1 to 105-6 on their way to a modest 148 total which looked a comfortable target when Steeton passed the half-century mark with only two wickets down

But Rawdon started to hold on to their catches and with Andrew Doidge (3-34) and George Myers (5-48) making inroads they were soon staring at defeat at 99-8. When No10 Pearson was joined by last man Josh Gill, they still needed 22 but the pair kept their heads down and clinched a thrilling win

Skipton kept their push for promotion from Division Two going with a comfortable 99-run win over Harden.

They looked to be in trouble when they slipped to 80-5 after electing to bat first but they were revived by Kevin Owens.

He survived an early let off as he battled his way to a valuable 65 which helped Skipton to post a total of 170.

The consensus of opinion among the Skipton players was that the total was a good one, and so it proved.

Harden could not cope with the bowling of skipper Richard Nichols who took 5-19 in ten accurate overs of seam bowling.

Wicketkeeper Rob Walker picked up four victims as Harden were bowled out for 71.

Upper Wharfedale skipper Callum Lockett made a superb 103 as his team trounced Hall park by 185-runs in Division Three.

Lockett was well supported by Jake Sharkey (63), Joe Daggett (58) and James Raper (40) as his side scored a daunting 301-5.

Hall Park had no answer to the bowling of in-form Caleb Grant (5-71) and Tom Baines (4-22) as they were dismissed for 116.

Addingham moved into third spot with a win at Olicanian who were restricted to 179-8, Harry Smallwood (52) top scoring. Ricky Palacio hit 63 as Addingham got home by two wickets

Silsden are still searching for a first win after suffering an agonising one-wicket defeat against Bardsey.

They looked to have given themselves a chance of breaking their duck when they posted a total of 243. Majid Inayat led the way with an innings of 88. Mohammed Waqas (38) and Sadir Khan (33) gave him good support.

Bardsey, led by opener Mick Ansell (118) edged home despite the efforts of Mohammed Adnan (4-41) and Joseph Sugden (3-60).
