IT was a busy night for Skipton’s swimmers in the Airedale and Wharfedale Gala at Guiseley on Saturday.

The Skipton club had 44 swimmers competing in the individual events and they also fielded eight relay teams.

For some of the team members it was the first time they had taken part in a gala.

There were three individual wins and one relay triumph for the team to celebrate.

The victories were provided by Hermione Roe, Ethan Camsey, Abi Newton and the boys 13/14 years 4 x 50metres freestyle team

Roe’s golden moment came in the girls nine/ten years 50m breaststroke with a time of 41:19sec. He team-mate Ella Eastwood was sixth in 56:95 after securing her place in the final with a swim-off against Scarlett Tomlinson.

Newton led the field home in the girls 13/14 100m freestyle as she recorded a time of 1:06:95.

The third individual success came in the boys 14/14 100m freestyle where Camsey won in 1:02:47. Sam King was fifth in 1:09:51.

Camsey also competed in the men’s open 50m backstroke where he finished fourth in 32:14, two places behind his team-mate Mark Mahoney who recorded a time of 32:00.

Mahoney was also second in the boys 15+ 200m individual medley where he stopped the clock at 2:24:83.

Will Oliver claimed fourth place in the boys nine/10 years 50m breaststroke in 53:45 while Ellen Wright came sixth in the girls 11/12 50m butterfly with a time of 40:78.
