TWO ten-year-old boys have been selected to train with the official English Karate Federation England team at their open squad training sessions.

Jack Moran, of Sutton, and Josh Elliott, of Silsden, have been doing sport karate since they were five years old and both achieved their black belt 1st Dan in March, 2014. Jack is a pupil at Sutton CP School and Josh is at Hothfield School in Silsden.

Jack's mum Clare said: "They are dedicated to the sport and work really hard, training three times a week at Newbys Combat Arts Academy in Cross Hills.

"Head coach, Sensei Paul Newby, former World Champion and assistant England coach, has seen them grow as fighters over the years winning many trophies and medals.

"Both boys were part of the under nines team, winning gold medal at the English National Championships for two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014.

"This is exciting times and the next step in their dreams of representing their country. The boys won’t be able to fight for their country until they are 14 but Sensei Newby thinks they are ready to start and train with a hope to one day becoming part of the England Karate team."
