TWO of Skipton's outstanding young swimmers competed in the recent ASA National Championships at Sheffield.

Luke Midgley and Hannah Raistrick, both 13, were thrilled to qualify for the prestigious event.

Midgley, who attends South Craven School, initially took up swimming when he was eight to build up his muscles in his right leg after a serious injury.

He now swims six days a week and competed in the 50m breaststroke where he finished 18th with a new personal best time of 35.98sec. His previous personal best was 36.11.

Raistrick finished 18th in the highly-competitive 12/13 age group 50m butterfly with a time of 31.32. Just one second separated her from the third-placed swimmer.

Raistrick attends Skipton Girls High School and joined the Skipton club in 2011. She gained her first Yorkshire qualifying time when she was 11 and has since won medals at both regional and county level.
