SKIPTON are facing a dramatic winner-takes-all promotion showdown with Pool at Sandylands on Saturday.

Two-successive defeats have scuppered their championship hopes and allowed Horsforth to take the Aire-Wharfe Division Two title.

Now they have to pick themselves up for their most important match of the season as they look to realise their ambition of gaining a place in the top flight for 2016.

Skipton have 274 points, just one more than Pool, but both sides go into battle with their confidence bruised by defeat last Saturday.

The Sandylanders will need to recover their batting composure after being dismissed for just 78 as they lost by eight wickets at Thackley.

Their top three batsmen, Richard Nichols, Izaak Beck and Shahid Nadeem were all dismissed for ducks as Skipton collapsed to 4-5.

Kevin Owens tried his hardest to revive his side with 42, but Jonathan Rudge (6-43) and Shane Marshall (4-34) were in no mood to let them off the hook.

Thackley cruised to their target and the only piece of good news for Skipton emerged later when they discovered that Pool had suffered a six-wicket defeat against strugglers Harden.

Skipton’s 78 wasn’t the lowest score by a Craven side. Upper Wharfedale were skittled for just 57 at Calverley in Division Three as they went down by eight wickets. Jatinder Singh returned figures of 6-6.

Addingham remain top despite a crushing ten-wicket defeat by New Rover. They have a slender five-point lead over Olicanian going into Saturday’s final game at home to Horsforth Hall Park.

Ben Brearley top scored with 51 in Addingham’s 155, but New Rover’s openers made light work of knocking off the runs with Michael Richmond (76no) and Matthew Dinsdale (62no) securing victory for their side.

Silsden remain without a win in Division Three and visit Upper Wharfedale in their final game. Their latest defeat was a seven-wicket reverse against Hall Park.

A total of 130 all out was inadequate as Hall Park eased to victory with Gary Walton making 58 no.

Steeton made it a cleansweep of defeats for the area’s sides as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Waddilove Cup winners Bilton.

Openers Andrew Foulds (38) and John Akrigg (36) gave Steeton a solid start but their side saw their innings falter and they were all out for 184.

Bilton cruised to their target with openers Martin Donnelly (92no) and former Yorkshire player Vic Craven (44) sharing a stand of 113.
