Farsley Celtic 3, Ossett Town 0

FARSLEY Celtic’s season finally got off the ground last night with their first win in Evo-Stik Division One North at the eighth time of asking.

The Celts have been unfortunate in many of their opening fixtures but finally clicked into gear at home against neighbours Ossett Town, Neil Parsley’s men romping to a confidence-boosting victory.

Skipper Rob O’Brien got them off to a good start with a 13th-minute opener and, just after the hour, Paul Walker - making his second appearance after joining on loan from Vanarama National League North Bradford Park Avenue - opened his account for the Celts, and Nicky Guest wrapped up the scoring with a little over three minutes remaining.

Divisional rivals Brighouse Town slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Witton Albion, dropping from sixth to eighth in the early-season table.

The home side had a 2-0 lead at the interval after goals from Alex Titchiner and Danny Andrews, and they increased that when Adam Wilson put through his own net.

Ernest Boafo pulled a goal back in the 70th minute when he tucked in a rebound after a Danny Facey effort was only parried, but the home side restored their three-goal margin with Gary Roberts' last-minute strike.

Albion Sports suffered a shock defeat in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division when they lost 1-0 at Pickering Town.

The home side’s Ged Dalton forced in the only goal of the game in the third minute following a defensive error.

Albion’s night got worse when their captain James Firth was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident.

Silsden rallied late on to win their big derby against Barnoldswick Town in the North West Counties League top tier.

Barlick skipper James Corken had given the visitors a 32nd-minute lead with the only goal of the first half.

But a Chris Wademan strike brought the Cobbydalers level 12 minutes from time, and Kev Ryan put them in the lead two minutes later.

Substitute Lee Guilfoyle put the gloss on the Cobbydalers’ 3-1 win when he netted a last-minute goal.
