SKIPTON prop Luke Currie will be making his debut for the Infantry in the British Army Corps Championship next week.
The 28-year-old, who is Kingsman with the 2nd Battalion Duke of Lancashire's Regiment, was selected after the team's recent trials at Aldershot.
Now he is posed to play in next Wednesday's opening league fixture against the Army Air Corp and is looking forward to the challenge.
Currie said: "I was nominated for the Infantry team trials by my battalion. We played a special selection match with players being pulled out and replaced as it went on. I stayed on throughout and then learned I had been selected.
"It is a great honour as a number of the players in the trial have played at National League and Championship level."
Currie, who is expected to line up for Skipton in their Yorkshire Four clash at Hessle on Saturday, is optimistic about his club's prospects for the season.
He said: "We have got a good squad together and our aim is to win promotion."
