Yorkshire Merit League: Leeds Medics & Dentists A 5 Wharfedale Development 82

WHARFEDALE'S third team seemed to appreciate the perfect playing conditions at Weetwood and scored 12 tries, ten players getting on the scoresheet.

The visitors were soon on the scoreboard, Matt Wareing powering over under the posts to finish off a fantastic attack in which nearly the whole team handled the ball, Harris Catley converting for 7-0.

Excellent work at the breakdown then forced a turnover, fly half Michael Beer chipping ahead and Ben Parkinson forcing another turnover, Harry Balderson running in unopposed for a converted try.

A Catley chip ahead created more harrying opportunities and, from the resulting scrum, Wareing and James Ardron created the chance for Andrew Bode to crash over, Catley converting superbly from wide out for 21-0.

Leeds Medics were no pushovers, despite the score, but Catley was the next to cross and convert after the Close brothers and Tom Walker had engineered a heel against the head.

The visitors then relaxed a little, allowing the hosts in for a try from a tap penalty, but they soon found their focus again, Tom Wareing carrying the ball strongly, supported by Parkinson and Matty Close, for the latter to score, and the half ended with Harry Croft scoring after Parkinson and Nick Taylor had made good yards.

Leading 42-5 at half-time, Ben Rymer surprised some with his speed to become the first visitor to score in the second half, reaching out for the whitewash, and Taylor was the next to cross against a tiring defence.

Ian Close's try, from a Bode pass off the floor, took the Greens into the 60s, Croft (2), to complete his hat-trick, and Tom Wareing completing the rout.

Catley converted eight in all, Taylor, Balderson and Tom Wareing also adding conversions.
