Steeton Reserves 1 Holmfirth Town 2

HOLMFIRTH Town's first ever visit to Steeton saw them come away with a victory with all three goals coming in the second half.

In the first period it was the home goal which looked the more likely to be breached and it was only a combination of sound positioning by Kyle Fox and Alistair Morgan and poor finishing which kept the scores level.

The visitors were disappointed when the referee turned down their penalty appeal as the keeper followed the ball and took down the onrushing striker.

Holmfirth looked to have scored only to see the effort headed off the line by a superbly positioned by Joe Mason.

The home side's first real threat did not come until Josh Brooksbank found himself unmarked in the middle of the penalty area.

The hosts almost took the lead when Harry McGowan was denied on the counter by the visiting keeper.

Neil Robshaw finally gave Town the lead from the spot after a penalty for shirt pulling in the area.

Simon Walsh then steered the ball into the goal from distance after keeper Wayne Mahomet appeared to have been fouled in the area.

Alistair Morgan did bring Steeton back into the game with a superb finish from near to the lefthand touchline.

And with ten minutes remaining the Holmfirth goalkeeper made what was certainly the save of the day when he pushed over a shot from Josh Brooksbank which was destined for the top corner.
