SKIPTON LMS have made it five Premier Division title wins in six seasons in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League.

They put seven Cross Hills in a midweek derby before triumphing 2-0 at second-placed Trawden Celtic to clinch matters at the weekend.

Ian Craven (2), Matt Simpson (2), Luke Howsen, Chris Simpson and substitute Fred Midgley netted against Cross Hills, with Craven and Chris Simpson scoring at Celtic, with Reece Fowler man of the match in both games.

Gong winner Billy Skelton and Scott Newton replied for Cross Hills, who also lost 2-0 at home to fourth-placed Rolls, for whom Liam Garbutt and Gareth Hargreaves were on target.

Settle United, who won last season when LMS were fourth, have every chance of finishing second.

Visitors Earby Town were their latest victims, falling 5-0 as Luke Hepton (2), Lee Walker and Mark Loughlin were among their marksmen.

Grassington United, who could yet finish in the top four, saw off relegation-threatened Gargrave 7-0, with Ben Schindler (2), Tarek Issa, Toby Jeffrey, Jan Ozdoba and Jack Schindler being among the scorers.

Celtic, who could be overtaken by Settle, won 5-1 at Rolls, for whom substitute Paul Oldroyd scored, while David Blacklock was dismissed for two yellow cards.

Embsay are threatening to pull off an escape in Division One and have Bingley Town in their sights after a 2-1 victory at Oxenhope Rec, thanks to goals from Dave Greenwood and man of the match Ian Piper.

Bradley, who are virtually doomed, lost 7-0 at Sporting Keighley.

Carleton are probably favourites to win Division Two but were tested to the full by visitors Cononley Sports Reserves before emerging 5-4 winners.

Man of the match Joshua Banks (2), Robert Bradley, Ashley Purnell and Ben Teal netted for Carleton, with Chris Lumsden, Colin Throupe, Andrew Waite and substitute Craig Ebbrell replying.

Another close one was Grassington United Reserves' 3-2 home defeat against Skipton Town Reserves, for whom Shane Dwyer (2) and Josh Newton were on target, Jan Ozdoba bagging a brace for United.

After their efforts against Carleton, Cononley Sports Reserves ran out of steam at second-placed Manningham All Stars and lost 6-1, substitute Michael Beilby getting the sole reply, but Cross Hills Reserves picked up a fine point at leaders Broomhill, drawing 1-1 thanks to gong winner Jimmy Anson.

Polonia's promotion hopes were virtually dimmed, however, as John Hughes-inspired visitors Settle United Reserves won a thriller 6-5, courtesy of goals by, among others,, Barnaby Harrison (2), Tom Strickland and Sam Kelly.

Division Three leaders Hellifield also survived a major scare, winning 5-4 at Ilkley Town after being 4-1 down at half-time.

Man of the match Dale Denham (3), Matthew Beckwith and Jacob Wroe led the fightback, while third-placed Barnoldswick Barons were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors AFC Barnoldswick, with substitute Jonny Senior scoring for the hosts and Elliott Smale replying.

Sutton went down 5-1 at Bingley Town Reserves, substitute Michael Ruddock getting the consolation, but earlier they had done their hopes of avoiding the wooden spoon a power of good with a 4-1 win at Broomhill Reserves.

Shaun Bell, Aiden Robertson, Jack Shaw and Nathan Todd were Sutton's marksmen, while Cowling Reserves lost 2-1 at Addingham, Sam Wedgwood bagging the second string's goal.
