SKIPTON made an early exit from the Waddilove Cup after suffering a 60-run defeat against Green Lane.

The Sandylanders were up against it from the start as Green Lane's openers Waleed Akhtar (73) and Andy Lee (41) shared a stand of 126.

Despite the efforts of Ben Holderness (3-50) and Graham Summersgill (2-52), Skipton were unable to

wrestle the initiative from their opponents.

Azhar Mahmood increased the tempo of the innings as he hit ten fours in an unbeaten 54 made from 34 deliveries.

Opener Sam Moore got the Skipton innings off to a flying start as he made 58 from just 28 balls with 13 fours.

Moore and Summersgill (39) shared a first-wicket stand of 81 before the pressure of maintaining a fast scoring rate led to a clatter of wickets. Mahmood (3-35) as Skipton slipped to 121-6.

James Robinson ensured that there was a sting in the tail by making an unbeaten 57 and sharing a last-wicket stand of 59 with Andrew Facey (30) which boosted the score to 250.

Freddie Pearson made an unbeaten 106 as he guided Steeton to a comfortable seven-wicket win over

Ben Rhydding.

Pearson's runs came off 102 balls and included two sixes and 15 fours as he helped his side to pass Ben Rhydding's 214 with nine overs to spare.

Craig Walton, whose unbeaten 60 included a six and nine fours, shared an undefeated fourth-wicket stand with Pearson.

Josh Gill (4-31) was the pick of the Steeton bowlers as they kept their Division Two opponents in check despite the efforts of Redmond Bolton (64). Steeton will be at home to Division One rivals Beckwithshaw in the next round.

Henry Barrow held the key to Addingham's nervy one-wicket win over Olicanian in a low-scoring encounter.

He followed up his 3-20 with the ball by making 32 as Addingham just edged past Olicanian's total of 136 to secure a second-round tie away to Division Three side Tong Park Esholt who scored a surprise win over Knaresborough.
