SKIPTON Inter District Veterans got back on track against Castleford with a 39-17 win, thanks mainly to a terrific away performance at Methley Bowling Club.

The away side won 22-6 with seven winners,

Peter Deighton 21-7, David Hemsley 21-13, John Parkin, Trevor Hargreaves, Barry Turnbull, Kevin Burnett all 21-16 and Ken Brenkley 21-20.

The home team at Sutton Park did not fair as well but did win 17-11, Derek Seed 21-11 and Len Buxton 21-12 had good wins.

Then two Castleford players failed to arrive so Skipton gained two 21-0 walk overs to give them the match victory.

The league tables are a little misleading at the moment with some clubs having played less than others, but at present Keighley A lead the Walker Foster First Division.

Keighley A picked up a good 7-5 win at Crosshills A then won 10-2 at home to Silsden P F A, to give them 89 points from 11 games.

Cononley A are in second with 84 points but have 2 games in hand on the leaders, Cononley had two 9-3 wins at home to Colne Cricket Club and away at Broughton Road.

At Present Silsden are third with 74 points from nine games after just one game a 8-4 home win over Devon A, Crosshills A have two results still to go on bowlsnet so will move up from fifth.

The defeat at home to Keighley A was a blow but a 10-2 away win at Steeton A put them back on track.

Devon B got a good 9-3 home win over Whinfield A to propel them to the top of the James Pye & Son second division.

They then had a shocker as they lost 10-2 at Lund Park A, which put Lund Park A top with 77 points, with Devon B in second on 76 points both played ten games.

Cononley B went third with 74 points after two good wins, 8-4 at Whinfield B and 11-1 at home to Lund Park B, they have a game in hand on the top two. Sutton B are doing well after promotion last season, they are in fourth at present though teams below them have games in hand.

In the Skipton Building Society Division Three Broughton Road B are at present top with 68 points, although we have a few results missing from past matches.

The Broughton Road B team had two contrasting results, a 9-1 home win over Silsden P F C, then a 9-1 thumping and first defeat at Grassington.

Crosshills C are second on 63 points after winning 10-0 at Keighley C, then a 6-4 home defeat to Steeton B. Grassington will move up the table after results are updated, they had the win over Broughton Road and a 9-1 success away at Whinfield C.

Tonight Thursday sees the Yorkshire Merit qualifying round at Lund Park, with two qualifying places available for the prestigious final at Hove Edge Bowling Club on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30.
