SETTLE and Clitheroe remain the only unbeaten teams in the Senior League, though the Marshfield side had to rely on the all-round skills of their professional to steer them to safety in a low-scoring game on Saturday.

Visitors Great Harwood put Settle in to bat, with openers Tom Davidson (17) and Asif Fazal (12) providing a fair start, but the remaining eight amateurs could only muster 22 runs between them. However, Imran Khalid remained steady at the helm as player after player fell away, crafting an innings of 58 from 81 deliveries.

As is not unusual with the leg-side wide rule, the hosts were boosted by 21 extras but still only managed 130 all out, their lowest first-innings total of the season.

Third-placed Harwood must have fancied their chances of claiming a higher spot, but they were soon routed by the spin of Khalid.

In the space of 11.2 overs he took six wickets for just 19 runs, backed up by catches from Peter Cook and Thomas Strickland. Sri Lankan pro Ashen Silva made a painstaking 29, but no other player reached double figures as the visitors crashed to 63 all out within 24 overs.

Hassan Fazal weighed in with 3-31, but the day belonged to Khalid with bat and ball.

Barnoldswick came out on top in their derby clash with Earby by recording a five-wicket success.

Opener Abdul Saddique (51) and pro Shashrika Pussegolla (42) helped their side to overhaul Earby's total of 152. Saddique struck nine fours and Pussegolla six.

After winning the toss and electing to bat at Victory Park, Earby again found the going tough and were reduced to 23-2 when Saddique removed Daniel Helliwell lbw and bowled Steve Parry with successive deliveries.

Anton Muller (26) tried to consolidate before he became one of three victims for Sri Lankan Pussegolla (3-51).

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Sajid Akhtar came into the attack and took 4-30 in eight overs.

Lee Parkinson hammered three sixes in breezy 28, but the eventual total of 152 was not big enough to prevent Barnoldswick from securing victory.

Settle seconds are now hitting fine form in Division Two with a convincing win at second-placed Cherry Tree.

John Tarbox took 3-35 and under-18 spinner Joseph Handy (5-28) claimed his first five-wicket haul for the club. Settle made short work of the 90-run target, with Adam Strickland (16), Robert Johnson and Simon Tarbox (18 each) paving the way for a trademark blitz from Josh Mullinder (37no) as the match was won in 21 overs with two wickets down.
