A COOL and blustery evening greeted riders in the Kildwick-Rylstone-Gargrave-Kildwick 22-mile time trial – but it did not dull the speed of winner Alex Barusevicus, who set a new course record of 51min 35secs.
The All Terrain rider's achievement in the Bronte Wheelers-Neophix race was even more incredible bearing in mind he is a 16-year-old schoolboy riding a standard road bike and not a time trial specific one.
In second place was Seth Smith, riding for Paul Milnes Cycles, in a time of 51min 57secs. He also scooped the fastest veterans prize with a plus of 6min 41secs.
In third place was Darren Caines, of VC Bradford/Pennine Cycles, in a time of 54min 55secs, knocking almost six minutes off his previous best.
