SILSDEN’S hopes of gaining their fourth win of the season in Aire-Wharfe League Division Three were dashed by Menston.

It looked like the Cobbydalers could cause an upset against their fifth-placed visitors after they bowled them out for an under-par total of 157.

Zabeeh Ullah (3-36), Manley Du Preez (3-23) and Shaun Brentnall (3-32) put Silsden right in the mix at the halfway stage but the hosts could only achieve 135 all out in 41 overs.

Chris Barrett (26) and Brentnall (30) made contributions but Zarshad Khan (4-23) and David Heslop (3-15) ensured the spoils went to the visitors, leaving Silsden still struggling in second-bottom spot.

Steeton’s relegation fears deepened in Division One as they were thrashed by 206 runs at second-placed Beckwithshaw.

The high fliers smashed 355-7 as James Emmott (5-71) battled bravely before the visitors succumbed to 149 all out in 43.4 overs, Matthew Price (52no) and skipper Steve Pearson (33) offering some resistance.

Steeton are now 36 points behind third-from-bottom Collingham.

Follifoot posted 269-6 at home to Harden as Justin Galeotti (55) and Joshua Cutts (54 no) made the biggest contributions.

The total was beyond the visitors as Umer Yaqoob (5-62) and man of match Alex Fox (4-29) restricted them to 145 all out in 33 overs, Devin Pollock (33) and Matthew Topham (50) being in the runs for Harden, who remain deep in relegation trouble.

Skipton’s poor run continued as they went down by seven wickets against Knaresborough in Division Two.

Shahid Nadeem’s 72 was the highlight of their 185, a score their opponents chased down with two overs to spare.

Half centuries from Will Atkins (74), Ricky Palacio (59) and Ben Brearley (59no) powered Addingham to 275-7 as they defeated Calverley by 114 runs. Henry Barrow took 4-46.

Upper Wharfedale suffered another defeat, this time by two wickets, in a low-scoring encounter with Bardsey.

Opener Callum Lockett (37) top scored in Upper Wharfedale’s disappointing108, but they made Bardsey struggle for their win.

The decisive knock was Tom Franklin’s 40. He scored his runs from just 29 balls as he hit two sixes and six fours. Matt Daggett (3-12) and Joe Daggett (3-44) bowled well but couldn’t save their side from defeat.
