THE 2016 Skipton and District Walker Foster Division One champions are Cononley A.

They completed the season with a 7-5 win at Settle A, a 9-3 home win over Silsden and a 12-0 walkover against Cross Hills B, who could not raise a side.

That gave Cononley a finishing total of 227 points (23 wins and three defeats). They finished ten points clear of second-placed Keighley A.

Keighley A (217) finished the season with a 10-2 win at Colne Legion A and a 9-3 home win over Devon A. Cross Hills A (210) came third after a slightly disappointing season. They lost 7-5 at Devon A, then completed the campaign with a 10-2 win over Gargrave A. Colne Cricket (197) took fourth spot with Silsden (185) in fifth and Devon A (184) sixth.

David Smith (Silsden) picked up the aggregate (+10.09) and average (20.78) with just one loss, dropping just 5 points.

The James Pye and Son Second Division champions were Lund Park A, who topped the table with 207 points, winning 22 and losing four. One of the defeats came in the last week as they went down at Silsden PF B 8-4, but they completed the season with a rearranged home win 8-4 against Cononley B and a final-night 10-2 win over Keighley B, leaving them 15 points clear of Devon B.

Devon B (192) needed two good wins to secure second place. They got them with a 8-4 win at Lund Park B and a 12-0 home win over Whinfield B.

Cononley B (188) took third place with a 7-5 home win over Oakworth, the defeat at Lund Park A and an 8-4 win at Sutton B. Sutton B (174) completed a good season in fourth following promotion, while Oakworth (173) took fifth.

Once again David Turner finished top of the averages, playing all 26 matches and losing just once, dropping three points (average 20.88, aggregate +10.42).

A very close finish at the top of the Skipton Building Society Division Three saw Grassington just take the honours by one point over Broughton Road B.

It all went down to the final day after Grassington picked up an 8-2 home win over Addingham B on the penultimate night. Broughton Road B where at home to Craven and won 9-1, while Grassington nearly threw it away as they went down 7-3 at Sutton C.

The final table saw Grassington with 181 points (21 wins, three losses), while Broughton Road B were left on 180 points (21 wins, two losses and a draw).

Third place went to Steeton B (169), who finished with a 7-3 home win over Sutton C and an 8-2 success at Gargrave C. Cross Hills C (146) took fourth place to complete a good season.

Broughton Road B player Gary Bottomley took the aggregate with +9.82, while Pat Clarke Grassington took the average with 20.19.

The Veterans Handicap will take place on Friday (1pm) at Cross Hills Bowling Club.
