HEBDEN'S Victoria Wilkinson completed her third Sierre-Zinal Mountain Running Race last weekend in Switzerland – and gained her best finish of fourth in her quickest time of 3hr 10min.

The gruelling 31km event, which is predominantly uphill and reaches an altitude of 2425 metres (7956 feet), starts with a very steep 12km climb through woods from the valley floor of Sierre before hitting the higher altitudes and running onwards and upwards on tough mountain paths for another 16km.

Then comes a savage three-kilometre descent into the picturesque mountain village of Zinal.

Mixing it with the best of the invited international runners, Bingley Harrier Victoria was only one place behind 2014 winner Elisa Desco (Italy).

German Michelle Maier won in 2hr 58min, with Kenyan Lucy Nurigi second.

Next month, Victoria will be competing in her 11th World Mountain Running Championship in Bulgaria.
