UPPER Wharfedale's cricketers were left shame faced after they were dismissed for just ten. in their Aire-Wharfe Division Three match with Tong Park Esholt.

Their Aire-Wharfe League Division Three match with Tong Park at Wood Lane only lasted 15 overs.

But there was crumb of comfort for Upper Wharfedale – their total wasn’t the lowest in the competition’s history.

That distinction belongs to Horsforth who made just seven against Knaresborough in 1973.

Eight of the Upper Wharfedale batsmen failed to score and there were only three scoring shots in the entire innings while one of their runs was a wide.

The joint top scorers were Charlie Lawn and Joe Daggett who each hit a four while opener Kyran Clark scored one.

Clarke lasted the longest of all the batsmen as he faced 16 balls, while Peter Jeffrey faced 12 deliveries before finishing 0 not out.

After collapsing to 5-5, Upper Wharfedale move on to ten before the remaining five wickets fell without any addition to the score. The whole innings lasted just 9.5 overs.

The main destroyer was Mahir Ali with a devastating 29-ball spell of 8-8 to clinch Tong Park Esholt’s promotion from Division Three after just one season in the bottom flight.

Ali, who now has 76 wickets in all competitions this season, combined with Will Murray (2-2) to destroy the home side’s batting.

Tong Park reached their victory target in just 5.1 overs.

Steeton’s relegation from Division One was also confirmed after they lost by 94 runs at home to Rawdon, whose Andrew Duckworth (141 from 104 balls, including 20 fours) shared in a magnificent stand of 176 with Ben Heritage (62) in their 251-6.

Stephen Pearson took 4-47 and wicketkeeper Andrew Foulds picking up five catches.

Foulds (45) then top scored and, with fellow opener David Robinson (43) and Tom Stead (40), raised Steeton hopes at 122-2 but they collapsed to 157 all out.

Skipton's Gary Owens was another bowler in devastating form. He took 6-28 as his side dismissed rivals Thackley for 98 to set up an eight-wicket win. Overseas player Pieter Coetzer guided them to their target with 35.

In Division Three, New Rover were struggling at 17-3 at home to Silsden’s Manley du Preez (3-64) and Shaun Brentnall (3-45), but they recovered to 248 via Rob Thomas’ 104, with Chris Meehan taking 3-61.

Even though openers Simon Cox (34) and Chris Barrett (40) gave Silsden a solid start with a 65-run stand, they went down by 79 runs, with only skipper Meehan (26) and Du Preez (13) also making double figures as Jack Cunnington impressed with 5-51.
