National League Two North: Wharfedale 51 Hinckley 33
THERE were mistakes from both sides on a breathless afternoon but Wharfedale's backs had a field day.
In a purple patch at the start of the second half, the Dalesmen grabbed four tries to put the match beyond Hinckley’s reach.
However, the Midlanders came back into the game and deserved the four-try bonus point.
The first half was closer encounter, Dale going in with just a two-point advantage.
The visiting pack were a dominating force and Wharfedale were full of running but handling errors by Dale cost them possession and territory but they hung on and kept in the game.
Scott Jordan crossed in the first minute for Wharfedale, Jamie Guy adding the two points.
Joseph Glover and Guy then exchanged penalties before Callum Dacey and Alex Norris touched down for unconverted tries for Hinckley.
Glover and Guy again exchanged penalties before Dale grabbed the lead with a Lewis Wilson converted try.
James Doherty said after the game that the next 20 minutes were “some of the best rugby I have seen played by Wharfedale”.
Rob Baldwin, Will Lawn and Josh Burridge all scored for Dale, and the referee added a penalty try, Guy converting three out of four to put Wharfedale into an an unassailable lead.
Hinckley came back with tries for Dacey, Huw Marsden (converted) and Craig Fillier before Harry Bullough scored the last try for Wharfedale, Guy’s conversion taking the home side past the 50-point mark.
