IT is a busy night of non-league football with six of the area’s semi-professional clubs in action, but only two of them are at home.

Farsley Celtic welcome Evo-Stik League newcomers Colne in a Division One North clash at Throstle Nest.

The Celts enjoyed an emphatic 5-0 win at relegation-threatened Burscough at the weekend to consolidate third place in the table.

They will be hoping for another maximum tonight against 16th-placed Colne, but they will be aware that the three victories from seven starts that the Lancastrians have enjoyed have all come away from home.

Brighouse Town retained top spot with an away win on Saturday but they will face a tough test on the road this evening against fourth-placed Scarborough Athletic.

Town need a win to stay ahead of the chasing pack but a win for the Seadogs would see them just one point behind the current leaders. However, Boro have played two games more.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, Liversedge have home advantage as they host Barton Town Old Boys in the Premier Division.

Sedge will be looking to get Saturday’s FA Vase exit out of their system as they welcome a Barton side who are struggling – there is a 16-point gap between the clubs.

Thackley are fourth but were left disappointed at the weekend when they had to settle for a 3-3 draw at Maltby Main after leading 3-1 at the break.

They journey to lowly Retford United determined to bounce back with another win.

Eccleshill United face a long midweek trip to newcomers Ollerton Town in Division One.

The Nottinghamshire-based side are second from bottom, while the Eagles are looking for a positive result as they are one point outside the play-off places.

Silsden face a much shorter journey in the Hallmark Security North West Counties League's lower tier as they head to Chadderton for a mid-table clash.

The Cobbydalers are ninth, just one point better off than 12th-placed Chaddy but James Gill’s men have played two fewer games at this stage.
