THE difficult 15th hole proving crucial in the outcomes of two finals at Skipton.

In the Junior Scratch final, Ben Topper, who was two up at the time after winning the 11th and 12th holes, found the middle of the fairway while his opponent Harry Ayrton hit trouble.

Topper won the hole and though Ayrton took the 16th, Topper closed out the match at the 17th as he secured a 2&1 win.

The Club Championship final over 36 holes from scratch was contested between Matt Ryder and Rob Nesbitt.

Ryder was one up after the first 18 holes which represented a minor victory for Nesbitt who had been three down earlier in the round.

Nesbitt started the last round strongly and was back to all square after the third thanks to a couple of birdies.

A birdie at the fifth saw Ryder establish a lead again and he was two up at the turn.

Back came Nesbitt again with another birdie at the 11th. The game swung Ryder's way when he won the 13th and 14th.

At the 15th it was almost a repeat of the Junior Scratch final, this time Ryder finding the fairway and Nesbitt catching trouble with his drive. In the end Nesbitt conceded the hole and the match 4&3.
