Winsford United 2 Barnoldswick Town 1

BARNOLDSWICK Town allowed the advantage of scoring an early goal slip away as they suffered their fourth successive Premier Division defeat.

Everything seemed to be going well when recent signing Andrew Hill scored his third goal for the club in the eighth minute.

Unfortunately, Town could not build on the breakthrough and found themselves pegged back when Brandon Moores netted in the 24th minute.

Both sides had chances before Winsford wrapped up the points with a 74th minute goal from Terry Cain.

Town will be anxious to try and halt their recent slide when they visit Charnock Richard in the first round of the FA Vase.

The two sides were rivals when they both player in the West Lancashire League with Charnock Richard enjoying the better of the results.

Town also have a tough league game next Tuesday when they entertain third-placed Atherton Collieries, the Premier Division’s highest scorers.
