ECCLESHILL United’s inconsistency continued to frustrate them as they lost a Toolstation Northern Counties East League game that they should have won, and also ended with ten men against Shirebrook Town.

It was a tale of three penalties, although it was far from a nasty game and there was hardly a bad challenge in it.

The Eagles’ centre back Jermaine Springer was clumsy more than anything when he conceded the first spot-kick on the half-hour.

The big centre back then failed to complete the game as injury forced him off ten minutes after the break.

The home side were just picking up the pace at that stage and were rewarded with a deserved equaliser when Kieran Barnes fouled Alex Cusack in the area and Luke Harrop fired in from the spot.

The first two penalty awards were marginal at best, while the third was a shocking decision.

Eagles left-back Kyle Shar was fouled by Kallum O’Kane outside the area and as he attempted to chase the striker from an off-balance start, he fell onto O’Kane’s heels.

The visitors’ Matt Langley netted his second spot-kick to win the game.

Division One rivals Campion leapfrogged the Eagles after they were 5-1 winners at Brigg Town.

Eli Hey claimed a hat-trick, with Josh Cook and Ben Kendall also on target, while the home side’s consolation was a late Luke Anderson penalty.

Liversedge put back-to-back defeats in the top tier behind them with a narrow home win over Clipstone that kept them second in the Premier Division.

Stephen Wales scored the game’s only goal soon after the half-hour.

Thackley are still immediately behind Sedge in the table after they won 2-0 at Armthorpe Welfare.

The Dennyboys had to be patient but Dan Broadbent finally broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, and Ryan Farrell added the second.

Albion Sports had to come from a half-time deficit to bag a point from a 3-3 draw at Parkgate but they moved up one place to fourth as they area’s three representatives in the top tier bunched together.

The Lions were 2-1 down at half-time after Danny Facey had pulled a goal back six minutes before the interval.

The home side restored their two-goal cushion, with Josh Moore completing his hat-trick, but Asif Hussain and Stephen Smith both struck to earn the draw.

There was no joy for Silsden in the Hallmark Security League as they lost 3-0 at home to Whitchurch Alport.

The visitors opened the scoring in the first half through Simon Everall, and Alex Hughes netted a second-half penalty before Mark Blundell wrapped up the scoring as Whitchurch Alport topped the table.

Brighouse Town are still top in Division One North of the Evo-Stik League, despite being held to a goalless draw at newly-promoted Colne.

Paul Quinn’s Town have a two-point cushion at the summit.

Farsley Celtic climbed back to sixth with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Prescot Cables.

Lewis Nightingale and James Walshaw were on target in the first half, and Paul Walker added the third.
