Buildbase FA Vase: Charnock Richard 3 Barnoldswick Town 1

(after extra-time, 0-0 90min)

WITH Mark Threlfall at a christening, Zack Dale cup tied and a number of regulars on the bench, Premier Division Barnoldswick Town could not take advantage of Division One promotion chasers Charnock Richard being reduced to ten men two minutes before the end of this all-Hallmark Security League tie.

There were no goals before the second period of extra-time, when Carl Grimshaw scored for the hosts in the 109th and 117th minutes.

Substitute Joe Gaughan gave Barlick hope with a goal in the 119th minute but Mark Adams sealed matters with a third goal a minute later.

Spencer Bibby was dismissed after the home side had been denied by some quality saves by Jordan Gidley, while Town cleared the ball off the line four times, but the confidence of winning their nine previous matches saw the hosts through.

John Beckwith almost put Town in front at the start of the second half but his shot hit a post, while Harry Thompson was denied later in the half.

Tomorrow’s home match against Atherton Collieries is postponed due to three floodlight bulbs being out and no cherry picker available to enable their replacement.
