West Riding County Amateur League First Division: Steeton Reserves 3 Tyersal 4

JOE Park, making a welcome return after a long lay-off with injury, captained Steeton Reserves in another high-scoring game.

Jonson Butterfield opened the scoring in the first minute with a superb shot which left the visiting goalkeeper with no chance, but the lead only lasted a minute as Tyersal beat the offside trap to equalise.

However, Steeton were back in front in the fourth minute when referee Chan Renardson awarded them a penalty - a decision which seemed to surprise both sides.

Grieg Hudson converted it but it was 2-2 after 25 minutes when Harry Jarman, who had made a superb save three minutes earlier, was unable to stop a 20-yarder.

Tyersal hit the front for the first time on 27 minutes with another superb effort, and made it 4-2 eight minutes later with a route-one goal – a drop-kicked clearance and one touch and a finish.

Steeton strove very hard to pull things around in the second half, with Hudson, Butterfield and Lee Thompson all being thwarted before the hosts struck.

Park's free-kick went right to Alex Briggs, who rolled the ball accurately across the penalty area into the path of Butterfield, who slotted it home to round off a slick move.

Despite a good deal of pressure, an equaliser did not come and Steeton Reserves remain one off the bottom of the table.

Steeton Reserves: Jarman, Briggs, Bryceland (Maddox), Burke, Park, Gilmartin (Harwood) Whitham, Thompson, Jeffrey, Hudson, Butterfield.
