BARNOLDSWICK Barons and Barlick Wanderers are both out of the Skipton Body Repair Centre’s Northern Plant Hire Trophy by 5-2 scorelines.

Barons were involved in the only first-round tie and lost at home to AFC Colne, with Matthew Aspin and Tom Cleaver scoring for the Leon Wright-inspired hosts.

Wanderers also lost by a respectable margin to a team two divisions higher – in this case Division One leaders Manningham All Stars in the second round.

Bradley, also from Division One, were beaten 7-1 at home by Division Two leaders Hellifield, with substitute Joe Parker getting the consolation.

In the top flight, Cross Hills gained only their second win of the season, defeating Trawden Celtic 3-1, who are immediately above them, thanks to Harry Eastbury, man of the match Robert Matthews and Liam Mulloy.

Jan Ozdoba’s goal earned Grassington United a 1-1 draw at Wilsden Athletic in the Premier Division, while Skipton LMS caused a minor tremor with their 2-1 success at Settle United, with Ian Craven and Fred Midgley on target for the winners and Tom Strickland replying.

In Division One, Skipton Town climbed three places to third on the back of a 5-1 victory at Broomhill, which was achieved thanks to goals by Sam Kimberley (2), John Bunnett, Darren Hey and Andrew Nicholson, but Carleton and visitors Rolls Reserves could not be separated in a 2-2 draw.

Robert Bradley and Liam Steadman netted for hosts Carleton, with Paul Oldroyd bagging a brace for the second string. There was no joy either in Division Two for Cononley Sports and Cross Hills Reserves.

Sports were third going into their home match against AFC Barnoldswick but were sixth after a 6-1 home defeat, Ben Crabtree, Peter Mogford, Daniel Mala, Gary Storey, Richard Scott and Aiden Warhurst each bagging a single, while star man Luke Newton netted the only goal for Cross Hills Reserves in their 3-1 setback at Grassington United Reserves, for whom Sean Clayton (2) and man of the match Tarek Issa scored.

Third-placed Settle United Reserves also scored six via Paul Ambrose (3), Ben Holmes, Jonathan Dawson and Milton Mendes, which was enough to see off Otley Town,

Bradley Reserves have yet to win in Division Three this season but came close in a 3-2 loss at Settle United B, Andrew Golding and Tom Pilling scoring for the losers, while leaders Silsden Whitestar Reserves beat Broomhill Reserves 8-0, Bradley Fay hitting four.
