IT was a day to forget for the Barnoldswick teams in the in the Craven FA Cup.

AFC Barnoldswick suffered an 11-1 thrashing at the hands of Sedbergh Wanderers in their first round tie, while Barnoldswick Town (EL) went down 6-1 at home to Carleton in the quarter-finals.

Sedbergh’s goal spree was led by Robert Moffatt, who scored four times.

Dale Metcalfe and Dean Scott added braces while Luke Packham, Connor Winn and Alex Fearn rounded off the scoring.

They now face an away quarter-final at Hellifield.

Carleton are a round ahead as they became the first team to progress to the semi-finals.

The first half looked like it would end goalless against Barnoldswick Town (EL), but the visitors scored just on the stroke of half-time to take a deserved lead.

Goals came regularly during the second half and the home side’s only consolation came in the 90th minute when Jake Hartley converted a penalty after a Carleton defender had handled.

The key figure in Carleton’s win was Jamie Poulter. He helped himself to a hat-trick while there were further goals from Jay Hopwood (2) and Joshua Banks.

Carleton will now be at home to either Grassington or Ingleton.

Grassinton defeated Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League Premier Division leaders Rolls 4-1.

Two goals from Jan Ozdoba were added to by Christian Moon and Jeremy Gee.

Three goals without reply in extra-time enabled Skipton Town to run out 5-2 winners at home to Grindleton.

Andrew Nicholson’s timely hat-trick was a key factor in their success while Michael Conroy was also on the scoresheet.

Waddington booked their place in the final of this season’s Norman Pratt Trophy with a 2-0 win over Settle United Reserves.

A fourth-minute goal from Chris Pinnard gave them a perfect start and the victory was sealed on the hour when Own Jackson found the net.

Edward Read hit a hat-trick as Ingleton Reserves defeated Rimington Reserves 4-0 in the quarter-finals.

Joel Law completed the scoring for the winners. In the semi-finals They will face the winners of the delayed tie between Pendle Renegades Reserves and Skipton Town Reserves, which is now due to be played on February 4.
