THERE was a significant shift in the balance of power at the top of the Evo-Stik League Division One North as second-placed Farsley Celtic earned three points from a nine-goal thriller, while neighbours Brighouse Town won at leaders Lancaster City.

The Celts still trail Lancaster by six points but have three games in hand and have their tails up following a remarkable game at Hyde United.

Farsley took a second-minute lead when Jordan Deacey, the son of one of the Celts’ joint managers, slotted in the only goal of the first half.

Matt Beadle levelled seven minutes after the break, and Hyde then went in front three minutes later through Kyle Harrison.

Minutes later, Hyde centre back Paddy Miller, who began the season as Farsley skipper, was sent off for a foul on Deacey.

As if that wasn’t enough drama, a minute later Celts’ leading scorer James Walshaw was also dismissed.

Chris Howarth levelled for Farsley before Janni Lipka put the home side back in front before there were four goals in a sensational final six minutes.

A penalty for handball in the area led to Hyde being reduced to nine men, and Richard Marshall netted from the spot.

Aiden Savory put Farsley back in front before Lawrence Hunter netted a late equaliser but the visitors won it when Adam Clayton slotted in following a stoppage-time corner.

Paul Quinn’s Town also came from behind but won a high-scoring game with a goal in time added on.

Brighouse also broke the deadlock early as Tom Haigh opened the scoring in the third minute.

Lancaster turned the game in their favour before the break, with goals from Craig Carney and Tom Killifin in stoppage time.

The Dolly Blues couldn’t continue their resurgence after the interval, however, and Haigh bagged his brace before Ben Atkinson snatched a sensational winner three minutes into time added on.

There was a seven-goal thriller in the top tier of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League as Albion Sports were beaten 4-3 at home by a late Clipstone penalty.

The visitors were 2-1 up at the break after Albion’s Omar Habeeb netted between goals from Gareth Curtis and Ben Rodgers.

Luke Walker put Clipstone 3-1 up before goals from Karl Hall and Asif Hussain put the Lions back on terms.

The contest was settled when Keaton Ward slotted an 84th-minute penalty.

In Division One, a second-half hat-trick from AFC Emley’s goal machine Ashley Flynn condemned Campion to a 4-1 defeat.

Campion’s leading scorer Eli Hey had given the visitors a half-time lead but Jordan Cuduri netted an early second-half penalty before Flynn rattled in his treble.
