Colne Cricket Club held their nerve in the final round of matches to win their first JACS Merit Division One title.

They beat third-placed Cononley A 8-4 with crucial wins coming from Arron Harrison 21-6, Steve Clamp 21-7 and John Whitaker 21-8.

Keighley A were top going into the last game, but came down to earth with a bang as they were totally outplayed by Crosshills A.

Phil Dowgill 21-8 and David Scott 21-10 led the way for the home side as they romped to a 10-2 win.

Colne Cricket Club finished with 142, Keighley A 138 and Cononley A 136.

Settle A lost 8-4 at home to Silsden to remain rooted to the bottom.

The relegation match at Broughton Road saw the home team swap league places with Sutton A after a 9-3 win.

Gargrave A looked in trouble at one point but a 21-12 win for Keith Moore secured the aggregate and a 6-6 draw with Devonshire A.

The Division One average winner was Richard Hargreaves of Keighley A +8.56, 17 wins 1 defeat.

Division Two champions Colne Legion A finished in style with an 11-1 home win over relegated Gargrave B. Silsden PF A won 7-5 against Sutton B to finish eight points behind Legion.

Lund Park A beat their closet rivals Oakworth 9-3 to claim third place.

The heavy defeat for Gargrave B meant they joined Cononley B being relegated to Division Three.

Colne Legion’s Dean Butler won all his 15 games, to top the averages.

Rolls Royce held onto top spot in Division three, but it was close.

They travelled to third-placed Keighley B needing to avoid a heavy defeat.

Keighley B were up for the battle. Jenny Whitaker’s good win for Rolls was cancelled out by June Wilson’s 21-7 victory, but Keighley soon had the upper hand.

Peter Deighton and Nigel Hall both hit top form to secure the aggregate with 21-1 wins.

Rolls now needed wins and David Turner 21-15, Robert Holden 21-13 and Neil Whitaker 21-12, made sure they picked up five points as Keighley won 7-5.

Whinfield A had to get at least a draw at Silsden PF B to take top spot.

It proved to be a close match, but Margaret Slater and Michael O’Neil both won 21-5 for Silsden PF to put Whinfield on the back foot.

A recovery was on when Idris Wade won 21-4 while Brian Perry and Gary Bailey both secured 21-19 victories for Whinfield.

Gary Hodge went close but Richard Clarkson got home for Silsden 21-18.

Keith Rayner gained a 21-12, but the all important aggregate had gone 170-167, so it was a 7-5 defeat for Whinfield A.

They finished a point behind Roll Royce but were one ahead of Keighley B to take the second promotion spot.

Rolls Royce’s ever consistent David Turner won all 18 of his matches to top the averages.

Craven finished with a resounding 9-1 home win over bottom team Whinfield C, to top the Division Four table.

Steeton B drew 5-5 at Addingham B and gained a 7-3 win at Keighley C, to secure second place and promotion. Crosshills C finished with an 8-2 defeat at Settle B, but still got third place.

Craven's Warren Burnett jnr won 17 of his 19 matches to clinch the top average.

Walker Foster 54321 League Division One champions Keighley A finished with a 45-28 win over Gargrave A to end the season with just one defeat.

Devon A also had a 45-29 home win over Alkincoates PWA to take second place. Cononley A won 49-21 against Settle A to secure third spot.

Crosshills A and Silsden PF A filled the relegation places.

It was a Keighley A player Steve Morris who topped the averages.

Colne Legion A won Division Two after a 45-26 win at relegated Crosshills B.

Lund Park A went down 41-36 at Oakworth, but got second place to secure promotion.

Cononley B, who have struggled for players, finished bottom and Crosshills B.

Lund Park’s Kath Whitaker won 17 of her 18 matches to top the averages.

Division Three champions Rolls Royce won 48-21 at home to Addingham A to finish a terrific season. Keighley B picked up a big 47-26 win at relegated Lund Park B to secure second spot and promotion.

Steeton B lost their last match at home to Whinfield B 35-39, so they join Lund Park B in the relegation places.

David Turner led the averages, but was very closely followed by Jean Holden, Robert Holden and Steve Hounslow all Rolls Royce players.

Craven are Division Four champions while Gargrave C took second spot.

Long-time Skipton bowler David Brennan won the averages

The Skipton Hire Centre Clarkson and Supplementry Cup finals take place tonight.

Keighley A (5) take on Skipton Devon A (15) in the Clarkson Cup at Colne Legion, while Settle A (55) travel to Gargrave to take on Skipton Whinfield A (70).
