BARNOLDSWICK Town began a congested spell of matches in style with a mid-week win.

Danny Craig's men defeated Abbey Hey 3-1 on Tuesday night through goals from Ben Gorman, Harry Thompson and Zack Dale in the Hallmark Security North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

Gorman opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by Thompson in the 30th minute and man of the match Dale rounded off the scoring 13 minutes from time.

It was the start of four games in seven days for Town.

Town now Travel to Bootle tonight, before a return clash at Abbey Hey on Saturday and a trip to Padiham next Tuesday.

Speaking on the Abbey Hey victory, Craig said: "I thought we were well worth a half-time lead although they frustrated us well throughout the first half.

"We were forced into mistakes that made the game very open.

"We had the chances to kill the game off in the second half but didn't take them and made it difficult for ourselves.

"Jordan kept us in the game at a crucial point which gave us a chance late on to put the game to bed and did that at the second time of asking.

"It was about three points and a professional performance.

"We were made to work hard for that but I think we got what we deserved."
