HARLEY Rushton put the heat on his rivals with four wins and two second-place finishes at Darley Moor in Derbyshire.

The Ingleton rider stepped up his challenge for the National Classic Racing Motorcycle 350 cc Championship with some sizzling performances in round four.

Qualifying went well for Rushton with front row starts in all classes as he got to grips quickly with the circuit.

But the day was to take a turn for the worst with a retirement of the Craven Manx 500 in the weekend's first race.

Harley had to then use his Craven Honda 350 to compete in the 350 class of the ACU 500 race.

After a conservative race he completed the 12 laps to finish first in class.

He followed up by competing in the ACU Post Classic race for the first time on his Craven Yamaha TZ 350 and took a creditable fourth place.

The same bike served him well in the 350cc post classic club race where he started 34th on the grid and finished an incredible second after a last-bend overtake on Joe Barton.

Rushton took second place in the first 350cc club race after pushing Alan Oversby all the way to the finish.

The second race saw Rushton fend off Richard Molnar for a 350cc race victory as Oversby failed to start.

The first 350cc twin event on Sunday saw Oversby back in action with Rushton chasing him for the whole race, attempting a couple of overtakes before he finally passed his rival on the final lap to take the victory.

The second race of the day saw Rushton shoot into the lead at turn one before pulling out a gap on Oversby on every lap.

He controlled the race, lowering the lap record by nearly two seconds to 1:05.199.

Rushton added his fourth victory later to crown a fine weekend.

Darley Moor proved heated both on and off track as Harley explains.

The fifth round of the championships is being held at the Donington Classic Festival, August 3-5. He expects to have his Norton machines ready for that race.
