BARNOLDSWICK Town go into Saturday's FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round home tie with Billingham Synthonia still searching for their first win of the season.

After losing 2-0 at Charnock Richard on Saturday where they had both Marc Young and Nathan Emery sent off, Town went down 3-1 at home to Padiham in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Matt Barnes' side started brightly and went ahead with a 20th minute goal from Young, but then defensive errors cost them dear.

Thomas Hulme equalised after 35 minutes before two goals in a minute around the hour mark from Liam O'Neill and Daniel Wilkins settled the outcome.

Even a late floodlight failure could not save Town.

Meanwhile, Silsden warmed up for their FA Cup clash this weekend with two draws from their opening two games of their league season.

Danny Forrest's side travel to City of Liverpool in the prestigious trophy's extra preliminary round on Saturday (3pm kick-off) unbeaten.

Forrest came off the substitutes' bench himself to fire an 85th-minute equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Squires Lane on Saturday. They followed this up with a 1-1 draw against Charnock Richard, also in Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

Lee Spires fired the Cobbydalers into a 56th-minute lead in Tuesday night's contest after he converted a Niall Sultan ball. However, they suffered late heartbreak via an 85th-minute equaliser from Charnock.

Silsden almost conceded an injury-time winner when Charnock hit the post from a free-kick in a largely scrappy contest.

But Silsden's attention now turns to cup matters, as they will be hoping to advance to the competition's preliminary round on Saturday, August 25.

Speaking after Saturday's draw, Forrest said: "The margins in this division are finer, switch off for a second and there’s a higher risk of getting punished."
