Oakworth's Scarborough notches his 10,000th run

In the First Division Mewies Solicitors Craven and District Cricket League game between Oakworth and Sandy Lane, Michael Scarborough notched his 10,000th league run.

It came as joint- third Oakworth - sharing the spot with Embsay - rattled up 236, with Rob Hopkinson scoring 62, Scarborough 58 and Mark Beckett 48.

The Greenwood Park side could only muster 133 in reply, with Mark Oldfield top-scoring with 63.

Leaders Haworth Road were at home to Haworth. The home side posted 175, with Rizwan Mustaq top scoring with 37 as Damian Rowell claimed 4-37. The Bronte side were then blasted out for a paltry 43, with Mansha Khan taking 6-16 and Mustaq 4-22.

A point behind the Baildon Bottom side are Cullingworth, who were in sparkling form at home to Thornton. Evergreen Kev Pollard with 50 and Rob Foster (48) helped the visitors to 167-8 in their overs. Dave Hill took 5-23 from eight overs and Dave Robinson 3-54.

The Roydwood Terrace side lashed 170 off 30.4 overs without losing a wicket. Gareth Marshall hit a superb 122no and Steve Welch 40no.

The 16-year-old Freddie Osadzenko hit a fantastic unbeaten 104no as Cononley made 219-7 in their overs at home to Embsay. Stephen Speak was the best bowler with 4-51 off 13 overs.

Steady batting by the Shires Lane side saw them keep up with the required rate and in an exciting finish they required one off the last ball of the game. A leg bye saw them home with three wickets to spare. Sam Keane led the way with 62 and Duncan Ward made 35.

Fifth-placed Crossflatts travelled to Bradley and came unstuck, losing by 78 runs. Chris Simpson made 33 and Neil Robinson 30 as Q Ayub took 3-64 and Mick Addy 3-68. Flatts replied with 161 in just over 32 overs.

Ayub was left high and dry on 90no as the last five batters could only muster nine between them. Matt Simpson was the best bowler with 3-21.

Glusburn rattled up the highest score in the division, 302-5, with Sean Williamson making a splendid 120 and Liam Roberts 92. Visitors Cowling made a spirited reply of 259, with Steve Richardson hitting 80 as Kev Hird took 5-49.

Bingley Congs continue to head the Second Division by five points from Long Lee. At home to ten-man Foulridge Joe Steel top scored with 45 as they made 210. A White took 4-71 and Nigel Hill 3-51. The Noyna side could only muster 105 in reply, with Fred Brooker-Carey scoring 47.

Long Lee won at Skipton CI, although there were one or two scares along the way. On a tricky wicket the home side went first and made 97 all out with Chris Wright making 34 as Andy Greenwood took 5-32 off ten overs. At 31-5 the Keighley side were struggling before Mark Day and Steve Butterfield staged a salvage operation.

The latter went on to make 41no which saw the Keighley side home by three wickets in the 43rd over. John Drake with 6-33 was the best bowler for the losers.

Chatburn and Pendle Forest are three points behind Long Lee. The Ribble Valley side travelled to Wilsden and defended 151 to win by nine runs. Number 11 for the red rose side, Dave Musson, scored a crucial 38no and putting on 63 for the last wicket with Andy Lambert (30).

Meanwhile, Forest were down the road at Barrowford, and it was some of the Bull Holme’s ex-players that played a big part in the Fence side’s 101-run victory. The homesters made 128 with ex-men Peter Hakin (4-44) and Nigel Jones (4-32) doing the damage as Mark Taylor made 63. Then Simon Jones made 38 to go with Craig Vickery’s 73 as they cruised home by seven wickets.

Ingrow St John’s received a pummelling from Ingrow at Street Lane. The Saints were knocked over for 98, with Dale Hoyle taking 4-40 and Ian Roberts 3-33. Aide Parker with 70no saw the Hainworth side home by eight wickets.

Haworth WE and Riddlesden continue to battle it out at the top of the Third Division. The Bronte side were at Long Lee IIs and this week it was Tinashe Gomwe’s turn to shine with the bat. He cracked 109 to go with Andy Benfield’s 45, which saw them to 224-6. The Golden View side replied with 166-8, with veteran Joe Gordon top- scoring with 26 as Andy Parker claimed 4-41.

Riddlesden were also in the runs hitting 249 in their innings at home to Barrowford IIs. R Jain made 93, N Kamal 42 and N Hussain 32 with H Ali finishing with 5-45 off eight overs. The Bull Holme side never recovered from 7-3 and struggled to 107 all out. Jain (4-23) and G Ayub (3-35) doing most of the damage.

Haworth Road IIs were no match for Oakworth IIs as they went down by seven wickets at Cure Hill. Brannan Lawn (56), Nivard Trowers (41no) and Michael Davison (4-30) were the stars for the winners.

Embsay IIs battled their way to 208-7 in their overs with Nas Hussain making 68 and Rhys Davies 33. In reply the Keighley side were dismissed for 144 as Simon Holt (6-61) and Colin Ridehalgh (4-38) did the damage. Matthew Cox made 50 for the losers.

Bottom side Cowling IIs had a surprise in store for fourth-placed Ingrow St John’s IIs at Keighley Road. Going first the hosts posted 150-8 with Richard Cleaver making 41 as Sultan Hussain took 5-23. The Saints were knocked over for 107 as Z Shafait claimed 5-48 off 15 overs.

Denholme won by 106 runs at Gargrave.

Eldwick & Gilstead take over top spot in the Fourth Division after comprehensively beating Airedale IIs at Bradford Road by 119 runs.

Cononley IIs lost top spot after going down by 59 runs at Chatburn IIs despite 59 from Willie Naylor.

Ingrow IIs are third after seeing off Bradley firts at Hainworth by 77 runs. T Crook (67) and Neal Kennedy (7-27) were the stars for the winners.

N Coward (66) and Lee Bailey (50) were the best performers for Crossflatts IIs as they cantered to a fine seven-wicket win at home to Wilsden IIs.

Pendle Forest IIs encountered few problems seeing off Sandy Lane IIs by 61 runs at Fence.

No doubt about the bowling performance of the day. George Fletcher had 9-57 in the bag for Cullingworth at Haworth. He had one over at the No 11 batsmen but didn’t get him out. Up stepped Russell Hogg and he took that last wicket as the home side was dismissed for 140. Paddy Clark hit 70 as the visitors won by five wickets.

Riddlesden IIs, leaders of the Fifth Division, were made to work for the points up at Eldwick & Gilstead IIs. The Stockbridge side clattered 219, with S Ahmed making 89 as A Rastrick and A Moss took four wickets each. The homesters made a very creditable 170 in reply, Darren Shields with 6-50 keeping them at bay.

Oakworth IIIs are second after beating Pendle Forest IIIs by 38 runs at Bronte Field.

Haworth WE IIs beat Bradford & Bingley IIIs by 64 runs at Penistone Park, whilst Sutton IIs just got past Glusburn IIIs by two wickets at Carleton, and Little Marsden crashed 352 off the Gargrave II’s attack and won by 297 runs at Victory Park.

Skipton CI IIs held at the aces at Denholme IIs. First they plundered 205-9 with Dave Suter Jnr top-scoring with 56. Then Sam Smith (4-25) and Simon Bates 3-13 had the homesters back in the hut for a miserable 88.
