Line-up for Cowling Cup semi-finals

Following Sunday’s third-round ties the line-up is now finalised for the semi-finals of the Craven League’s Cowling Cup, to be played on Sunday, July 19.

Pendle Forest lls will play host to Crossflatts lls while Oakworth lls will entertain Cowling lls. The final will be at Cowling on August 9.

In the third round on Sunday, Oakworth posted a score of 182 and then dismissed Embsay for 160. Opener Lee Hollingworth gave his side a good start with 42 and this was continued by Michael Scarborough with 46.

The innings was given a final flourish by G Hudson, with 20 from the number nine spot, and Jack Davison with an unbeaten 22, from the number ten spot. The best of the Embsay bowling came from C Ridehalgh with 4-35 off 11overs.

Embsay then fell for 160, B Hodgson hitting 53, A Pickles 22 and R Youngman 35 no. Hudson took 3-31, M Davison 3-13 and Scarborough 3-22. to clinch victory.

Thornton’s 150 was rubbed off by Pendle Forest without losing a wicket after Furqan had taken 4-33 and Dagg 4-28. J Duerden then hit 43 no and M Lutz 95no.

Little Marsden’s 136 was eclipsed by Crossflatts, who lost eight wickets in gaining victory. S Grimshaw with 35 was the only real opposition to the bowling of Durn (5-27). Crossflatts struggled for victory as Stafford took 5-18 but Brian Freimanis made 36 as they went on to win.

Wilsden made 137 but Cowling knocked off the runs with four wickets in hand.
