Bradley are beaten and that lets Crossflatts take top spot


There are new leaders of the First Division following Bradley’s defeat at the hands of Cullingworth.

Crossflatts took top spot after a four-wicket win at Glusburn.

Amer Ayub hit 74 as Crossflatts overhauled a Glusburn score of 149 which included 72 from Karl Samson. Mohammed Arshad took 4-34 for the winners.

Cullingworth clawed their way back into the championship race in convincing style.

They batted first and made 209-9 in their overs with Nigel Brett leading the way with a fine 85. The South Craveners tumbled to 147 all out with Dawood Waqas taking 5-37 and Dave Hall 4-27.

Haworth Road are level on points with Cullingworth following their 72-run victory over Haworth.

Oakworth are fifth after hammering Cowling by 132 runs.

Rob Hopkinson hit a superb 107 which included 12 sixes and shared in an opening stand of 149 with Drew Duffy (45) as Oakworth made 292-7.

Other contributors were Jack Davison 55 and Brannan Lawn (44). R Abrol made 57 for the visitors whose innings closed on 160. The best bowler was Jack Ellis (4-41).

Next to bottom Ingrow looked to be cruising to the points when they were 161-6 chasing Embsay’s 180.

Haroon Ali got the crucial wicket of top scorer Chris Crook for 46 before Josh Robinson took the last three wickets as Ingrow were dis-missed for 167. Alan Broadley made 33 and Scott Robinson took 4-39.

For Embsay, Duncan Ward made 55 and Nathan Robinson (30) before a crucial partnership of 39 for the ninth wicket by Hasnehn Haider (27) and Ben Keane (20no).

There was a tense finish at Cononley where the home side went down by one wicket off the last ball to Bingley Congs.

The South Craveners rattled up 194-9 in their 45 overs with Freddie Pearson scoring 56, which included ten fours, and Andrew Starkey (48).

The Beckfoot side had a second wicket partnership of 98 in 24 overs by Andrew Copping (52) and Chris Hemsley (28) to thank for keeping them on track.

Chris Dibb entered the fray and whilst he kept things ticking over he was crucially dropped when he was on 23. Nine runs came off the 44th over which left eight required from the final six balls.

Two run outs threatened to derail the chase and one run was required off the last ball with one wicket standing.

In the mayhem of bowler, fielders and batsmen running in all directions a single was scrambled to snatch the points the home side so desperately wanted.

The champions of Division Two, Thornton, were in sparkling form at home to Ingrow St John’s.

Rob Foster (57), David Scothern (51), James Cowgill (39) and Tom Day (33no) helped the score to 258-9 with A Razza taking 4-57. In the Saints reply, Mohammed Mansha made 54 and M Qadeer (44 as the innings closed on a creditable 181. Jason Lockley took the bowling honours with 6-48.

The other promotion spot is looking like a red rose fight between Barrowford and Foulridge who are level on points.

Sutton won their basement battle with Haworth WE by 18 runs.

The Royd Hill side scored 174-9 with David Snowden top scoring with 34.

The last pair, Justin Holdsworth (21no) and Ben Bolland (7no) put on a crucial 28 for the last wicket.

The Bronte sides reply revolved around A Holt who scored 100 not out but his side closed on 156-6 with Holdsworth claiming 3-42.

The top three in Division Three all got three points.

Gargrave were at Ingrow St John’s II and mustered 123 in the innings with Tom Cowburn top scoring with 33 as S Iqbal took 6-11.

Despite 48 from A Khalid the Saints were dismissed for 85 with Will Smith taking 3-8 and John Metcalfe 3-26.

Second-placed Airedale received three points when Cononley II were unable to raise a side.

Third-placed Embsay II crushed a weak Long Lee II side by 188 runs.

Jahangib Haider and Alan Pickles both made 71 putting on 128 for the second wicket as the innings closed on 213-5.

Andrew Greenwood bowled through and his figures of 4-69 didn’t do him justice.

The Golden View side could only muster 25 in reply as Simon Holt took 5-9, Ben Stockton (3-5) and Joe Holt (2-10).

Eldwick & Gilstead’s Danny Pearson scored a sparkling 106no as his side posted 193-8 at Dick Hudsons. Visitors Glusburn were knocked over for just 58 with James Keighley taking 3-1, Danny Kilving-ton (3-6) and Andy Maude (3-17).

Skipton CI entertained Haworth Road II and they tied on 90 apiece. Haworth Road’s top scorer was R Ahmed with 33. For the home side Jon Sharpe made 30 as N Gata-Ayra took 5-35.

Denholme thumped Oakworth II by 150 runs. Rob Taylor made 71 as the home side posted 199-8. Oakworth were shot out for 49 with L Pickles taking 4-11 and T Greenwood (3-3).

Division Four promotion chasers Cullingworth II were at Bradley II and bowled the home side out for 34 with Dave Etherington taking 6-14 and Russell Hogg (4-15). The visitors cruised home without losing a wicket.

Cowling II are relegated despite winning by eight wickets at home to Sutton II.

The 10 man Sutton side made a disappointing 45-9 as S Shafait took 5-6. The Skipton Road side got home in the 20th over.

Bradford & Bingley III received three points in Division Five when Gargrave II couldn’t raise a side.

Thornton II’s visit to Pendle Forest III was a disappointment as they tumbled to a 19 run defeat. Afraz with 53no helped the home side to a modest 124.

He then took 5-15 to restrict the Booth Bridge Laners to 105 with Jeff Tipler making 31.

Skipton CI II beat Foulridge II by three wickets with the venerable Chris Windle taking 5-11.
