AFC Blackpool 3, Silsden 0

Silsden suffered their worst defeat of the season after a lacklustre performance on their visit to third-placed Blackpool, second- half errors costing the Cobby-dalers dear.

Visiting manager Chris Reape had to shuffle the pack once again, with holiday absentees and injuries depleting his squad significantly, and he drafted in Dale Feather for his full debut and put youngsters Luke Fleetwood and Josh McNulty on the bench.

Elliott Holmes missed a good chance and Silsden had penalty appeals waved away for hand ball before Blackpool went ahead.

The second half was only six minutes old when a Blackpool corner from the right was met by an unmarked header from Marc Beattie to put the Tangerines in front.

Danny McNulty nearly equalised with a curling shot that hit the bar.

Joe Gaughan went close with a free kick before Blackpool extended their lead.

Silsden’s sloppiness at the set-piece was their undoing as they allowed Martin Baird to drift in unmarked for another free header to put Blackpool 2-0 up.

Worse was to come though, and with just seven minutes remaining, following a Silsden corner, Blackpool cleared the ball out of defence.

The long ball found Ryan Stayte’s willing run and he burst clear on the right, surging forward before dispatching a low angled shot into the far corner .

On Saturday Silsden are at home to Northallerton Town in the FA
