Paralympic Games gold medalist Danielle Brown has been given a late call up to archery’s World Cup final, in Tokyo this weekend.

Danielle flew out to Japan on Tuesday, and will be one of eight archers taking part in the women’s compound event at world archery’s prestige event.

“I’m absolutely delighted to get this call up, it's really exciting,” said Danielle, who beat GB colleague Mel Clarke earlier this month to win her second successive Paralympic gold medal.

“With the Games now over, I’d been thinking about a complete break from archery for a couple of weeks, but it’s lasted a couple of days, and having put the bow away, it's now back out again.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for me to line up against the very best in the world, and I can't wait – it’s a fantastic bonus for me.”

Danielle was first reserve for the World Cup Grand Final after her fourth place finish at the World Cup event in Shanghai in April, and a ninth at Ogden, USA, in June placed her 10th overall.

She narrowly missed out on automatic qualification for the Grand Final – but earned her call-up after one of the finalists withdrew on Thursday.

Archery GB Performance Director Sara Symington: “I’m thrilled for Dani, she really deserves this, and I can assure you that she won’t be going for the experience. She has proved time and again that she's not just the best Paralympic women's compounder in the world, but one of the best in the world.”
